In the true Glastonbury spirit of "taking a year off to let the grass grow", 2017 see's the London Sync Sessions move to Barcelona. In collaboration with our friends at Future Music Forum, we will be bringing the same pulsing debate and top tier networking to the sunny streets of Spain's Catalonian capital.

We're packing our suncream and heading into the European market to bring together like minded individuals and colleagues for a celebration and progression of what is a beautifully multi-cultural industry. With a focus on Europe, special guest appearances, live shows and more, this promises to be the most spectacular L(B)SS yet!

Keep an eye out for a host of panelist/talk announcement's along with special hotel deals, evening parties and showcases.
 

The LSS Mission

After launching in 2015, the two day conference has welcomed over 300 industry professionals from all over the world in consecutive years. The London Sync Sessions has fast become the UK's must attend event for professionals from every side of the sync industry. By-passing the standard "how-to's" and regurgitated standard sync spiel, LSS has been at the fore-front of industry issues, flashpoints and needs. In-depth debate, constructive arguments and professional conflict is at the heart of what LSS is. 

Business is formed by relationships, the event hopes to cultivate these whilst giving an in-depth understanding of the state of this ever evolving part of the industry.

We’re pretty rock n roll here at LSS. The underground, post grunge, pop-up restaurant titans of industry conferences some might say? But what do we love more than an unreleased Stone Roses B-side?…Facts. 

We thought it best to all start on the same page. In an industry full of subjective opinions and hear-say, what do the numbers/facts say? What's the current state of sync and where is the money coming from? Zach Fuller from Midia Research presents the findings of their latest Global sync analysis report. 

With new entertainment paradigms opening across YouTube and SVOD services, publishers and labels are being forced to adjust to this new sync landscape away from the traditional models of TV and advertising. This panel will include an assessment of the distinctions in publishing and label sync revenue over the past few years, addressing emerging markets and new revenue streams, as well as how both aspects of sync licensing are revising their business models.

Games Without Frontiers: How video games are pushing boundaries for music
 

One of the most iconic games in Playstation’s history is WipEout, the futuristic racing game, which is now 22 years old and was recently re-mastered for the PS4 with a brand new soundtrack.

The franchise is famous for breaking cutting-edge dance music to a global audience - the original game featured the likes of the Chemical Brothers, Orbital & The Prodigy for the first time - and the soundtrack helped open up gaming to a whole new audience.

But how in the modern age are videogame soundtracks curated, what’s the process involved and how does it differ from conventional supervision?

Also what opportunities are out there to further exploit the music beyond the ingame license, and how can labels/publishers/artists help maximise these opportunities?

Supervisors are killing real songwriting - FAKE NEWS

With the foundations of our industry built on opinion, preference and subjectiveness, why is it more important than ever to understand the craft of a Supervisor? Are composers, artists and rights-holders changing their musical identity to suit an imaginary mirage of "what is syncable"?

Sync shouldn't be considered to save your career, or put food indefinitely on the table (unless you wrote Black Skinhead). But, knowing the industry as it stands, and the nuances of trends within matching music to media will stand you in pole position. Supervisors are first and foremost music fans. Hell, half of them will have had a failed career as a musician at some point. The term Music Supervisors seems to have been elevated to an untouchable podium of the deity gatekeepers of the sync heavens. When realistically, they're music geeks with mild tinnitus. 

The state of the industry is this, yes Flo Rida is on that advert you hate, yes David Guetta "DJ'd" at the Euros closing ceremony, and yes "could you make it a tad more Zimmer" is the autocorrect on some film producers iPhones. But do you really think a supervisor jumped at the chance to make that happen, are you changing your musical approach to suit those kinds of sync stereotypes? "Music supervisors work as storytellers, adapting to the unique needs of each project” wise words from supe veteran Thomas Golubic indeed, and it's true. Ultimately the client makes the decisions.
